الملخص

This book examines corrosion control at metal-electrolyte interfaces by linking electrochemical fundamentals with engineering protection strategies. It explains thermodynamic and kinetic principles, interfacial charge, passive-film formation, localized corrosion, and transport effects before developing sacrificial cathodic protection as an engineered electrochemical system. Particular attention is given to aluminium-, zinc-, and magnesium-based reactive materials and to multifunctional metallic coatings, including Zn-Mg and Zn-Al-Mg systems. The final chapter integrates polarization methods, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, microscopy, spectroscopy, and surface analysis to connect measurable signals with corrosion mechanisms, coating evolution, durability, and evidence-based assessment of protective performance.
