الملخص
This book examines how cereal production can be made more resilient to drought by integrating crop physiology, genetics, rhizosphere microbiology, and climate-smart agronomy. Using durum wheat as a model, it explains how water limitation, heat, soil constraints, and management affect yield and grain quality, then reviews physiological, molecular, genomic, and phenotypic mechanisms of drought adaptation. It explores the rhizosphere microbiome and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), emphasizing nutrient acquisition, hormonal regulation, osmotic protection, antioxidant defenses, root colonization, and microbial consortia. Finally, it traces PGPR development from strain discovery to formulation, field validation, scale-up, regulation, precision deployment, and integration with water-saving and regenerative practices.
