This book examines the growing camel-based industry in Algeria, highlighting camels’ economic and ecological roles and the opportunities in meat, milk, and by-products. It details gelatin extraction from camel bones, including methods, factors affecting yield (bone type, age, temperature, pH), and quality characteristics. The book also analyses value chains, commercialisation strategies, investment potential, and sustainability impacts, and it proposes policy and technology pathways—such as improved processing infrastructure and innovation—to position Algeria as a competitive supplier for halal markets.
