Résumé

This book explores how asphalt science, climate exposure, recycled polymers, and performance-based engineering can be integrated to design more durable and sustainable road materials. Beginning with the molecular structure, rheology, and distress mechanisms of asphalt, the book examines how temperature, moisture, aging, and traffic affect pavement resilience. It then evaluates recycled polymers as functional modifiers, linking waste-stream characteristics, processing methods, mechanical performance, environmental assessment, life-cycle cost, and circularity. The final sections address climate-conditioned design, implementation, safety, and future directions, offering a multidisciplinary framework for resilient pavements while reducing dependence on virgin resources.
