Résumé

This book explores the therapeutic potential of Bunium incrassatum L. (Talghouda), a North African medicinal plant rich in bioactive polyphenols. Methanolic extracts from seeds, roots, and stems were chemically characterized and evaluated for antioxidant and cholesterol-gallstone-dissolving activities. Seed extract showed the highest phenolic content and strong antioxidant performance, while all extracts demonstrated litholytic potential. In vivo experiments further showed that seed extract reduced thyroxine-induced hyperthyroidism in rats by improving T3, T4, and TSH levels and partially protecting thyroid tissue. The findings highlight B. incrassatum as a promising source of therapeutic compounds while emphasizing the need for further pharmacokinetic and clinical studies.
